One of our longest-standing clients, the Austrian Tourist Office (ATO), was launching “Austrian Wine Month,” a NYC-wide event for which they needed a 12-page brochure, a media campaign, a postcard, an insert, and a handful of ads.
The Copywriting Challenge
We had just one month to drum up publicity and consumer interest.
We initiated a partnership with MST Creative, an outstanding restaurant PR firm. We wrote a 2-page press release, and MST Creative sent it to weekly & daily publications and bloggers citywide. Word spread quickly, with bloggers and publications often lifting the words directly from our press release to express the variety and excitement of Austrian wine.
In days, we put the finishing touches on the postcard, the insert, the ads, and a 12-page brochure.
As a result of the collaboration between MarketSmiths and MST Creative:
- 14 NYC restaurants (in two boroughs) featured Austrian Wine Month with rousing interest and success.
- Within days, the event appeared on and in prominent publications such as Thrillist.com, Black Book, Brokelyn, the Village Voice, Zagat.com, Metromix, Boozy, the Skinny Pig, and Time Out New York.
- Bloggers often lifted wording straight out of our press release, which provided ATO with exceptional control over its PR messaging.
- The brochure and all ads (Edible Brooklyn, Tasting Table, MUG) were written in plenty of time for publication.
